Diabetes Education

For the past nine years, The CarolinaEast Foundation’s outpatient diabetes education program has been committed to people living with Type II diabetes. This ongoing three series program offered each month at the CarolinaEast Medical Center is FREE OF CHARGE and no registration is necessary to attend.

The Foundation feels it is important for persons with diabetes to learn about their disease so they will be better equipped to successfully manage their health and live long productive lives. The three-class series is held the first three Thursdays of the month in the Auditorium at the CarolinaEast medical Center’s Education Department from 3:30-5:30pm. For maximum benefit, it is recommended that patients attend all three classes.

  • Class A: Let’s talk about diabetes / Sensible monitoring / Planning for lifestyle changes / Basics of eating / Food and blood sugar / Understanding carbohydrates / Planning meals
  • Class B: Eating for a healthy heart / Food and weight / Stocking the cupboard / Being active / Exercise strategies
  • Class C: How diabetes affects body parts / Taking care of your feet / Medications and how they work

Class instructors are Certified Diabetes Educators, qualified Registered Nurses and Registered Dieticians who have experience working with persons with diabetes. Successfully manage your diabetes with these free workshop.
